Mulberry House is a family-owned and operated wedding venue located in High Ongar, England.
This Essex estate is nestled on 22 acres of rolling fields, wishing wells, and lakes that create a breath-taking backdrop. The historic house has been subtly converted into a boutique hotel while retaining its original charm and details. Featuring stunning Georgian architecture mixed with 21st-century additions, this venue is a luxurious and unique setting to hold weddings all year through.

Our stunning Georgian country house offers a wealth of beautiful space to accommodate your dream wedding.
Inside Muberry House
On the first floor of the house is our exquisite, newly renovated Honeymoon Suite which is available for you to enjoy on the night of your wedding. Also on the first floor are changing suites for the wedding parties for the morning of your wedding. Wedding changing facilities are available from 8 am and also our first floor lounge is available from 12 noon.
The Copper Room
The recently renovated Copper Room features a breathtaking vaulted ceiling and eye-catching chandeliers.
With seating for up to 130 guests, it provides an ideal setting for both a modern yet timeless wedding breakfast and evening reception.
Located on the ground floor of the main house, it includes its own copper topped private bar and cloakroom.
The décor is elegantly neutral, showcasing exposed brick, wooden floors, and beautiful oak beams, all offering a versatile space ready to be personalised for your special day!
The Marquee
Hidden behind the beautiful Georgian house lies our stunning all season’s marquee.
This large marquee has seating for up to 140 guests for a sit-down meal or 200 informally for an evening reception.
Air conditioned
Fully air conditioned with its own built-in newly renovated bar and private decking area. We also have a lower outside terrace for use on warmer days or simply for some fresh air.
The ivory draped, starlit ceiling with crystal chandeliers creates a magical feel for those special night-time occasions.
The Marquee can be accessed via the main house, making it ideal for winter weddings, or from our woodland gardens during those sunny summer days.
Ceremony Spaces
Our Lakeview Gazebo provides a truly picturesque setting for a dreamy outdoor wedding, available between April to September on days when the weather is fine.
If the British weather decides not to play along, we offer complete flexibility and can arrange for your celebrations to be moved inside under the vaulted ceiling of the Oak Room.
Woodland Weddings
New for 2025! We are so excited to launch Woodland Weddings at Mulberry House! With new outdoor rustic ceremony locations within the extensive grounds and space for your wedding tent to be erected by the lake, the charm of this option is undeniable.

The grounds of Mulberry House are an extensive oasis of beauty and tranquillity, providing the ideal setting for wedding photos. From lakes and streams, wildflower meadows, ancient woodland, alpacas and black swans – you can get lost in the moment.

If you are looking for something unique, we are now offering long tables to give your wedding a rustic look which can set it apart from the usual banquet style set up.
The Mulberry Suite can seat up to x100 guests, and the Marquee can hold up to x120 guests – please enquire with the Events Team to discuss logistics and to add this to your very special day.

They really go the extra mile for anything you need. The kitchen team are amazing with dietary requirements, they catered for nut allergies, coeliac, lactose intolerance and vegetarians throughout our day. From canapés, to wedding breakfast, to evening buffet!It didn’t matter what staff member we spoke to, whether is was the wedding team, the catering/bar team, the reception team, or even the night porter! Everyone one was so polite and would stop everything to help you with anything you needed.The venue itself is so well looked after, impeccably clean and tidy, immaculate grounds and the new renovation works are absolutely stunning, yet the venue still has a rustic charm to it. Not to mention all of the rooms smell amazing!!We had so many compliments from our guests on the beautiful venue, lovely staff, the amazing food and the luxurious accommodation. Our wedding was absolutely perfect, we couldn’t have had a better time, which would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the tireless efforts of the fantastic Mulberry House team.We’ll definitely be back for afternoon tea or maybe a romantic night away! We had a smaller wedding of just 40 day time guests and a lot of venues have much higher minimum numbers. Whilst this is what initially attracted us to Mulberry House; it wasn't as simple as that! ||We also wanted very informal dining options. So many venues want to enforce a 3 course formal dinner or a buffet. Neither option appealed to us. ||However at mulberry house, they offered a perfect solution. BBQ served on platters. No queuing for food, everything brought to the table. ||They also have a food shack option which, we used for our evening food; opting for grilled ham and cheese toasties with loaded fries.||Basically, Mulberry House was the absolute perfect venue for us. Not only is it absolutely stunning and the food incredible; the team is just outstanding.||It is no wonder they have won Essex wedding venue of the year the last 3 years in a row.||It is such a rarity to find a company where every single staff member has the most perfect attitude. From cleaning staff and bar staff to the events team, wedding co-ordinators and reception staff - each and every one of them only wants you to have the best day of your lives. And we did ||Nothing was too much trouble, last minute adjustments were taken care of without issue, things you wouldn't even think to mention were done (rearranging our aisle decor to reuse in the wedding breakfast room, moving our wedding cards and gifts and setting them out beautifully in our room. Bringing the evening food into our room as we didn't manage to get any (along with a plate of wedding cake!) ||They are honestly amazing at mulberry house and cannot do enough for you. We cannot thank the team at Mulberry house enough for all they did to make our wedding so special. Nothing was too much trouble for them and the day ran seamless.
Special shout out to Jo, Claire (who came in especially to make sure our day ran smoothly while battling a bad cold) Harley who was the best waiter and looked after us all night and Sammy who made sure our evening reception went off without a hitch!

We had our wedding at Mulberry House in October this year, everything from start to finish was amazing. The venue is stunning, the food was incredible, but it is the people that really make Mulberry House so special. The whole team could not be more accommodating, from helping to plan the running of the day in the lead up, to setting up basically everything in the morning and then supporting us with anything we needed on the day. Best Afternoon Tea Around My family and I have had afternoon tea on a few occasions at this wonderful venue and have been looked after exeptionally from start to finish.
