Mulberry House is a family-owned and operated wedding venue located in High Ongar, England.

This Essex estate is nestled on 22 acres of rolling fields, wishing wells, and lakes that create a breath-taking backdrop. The historic house has been subtly converted into a boutique hotel while retaining its original charm and details. Featuring stunning Georgian architecture mixed with 21st-century additions, this venue is a luxurious and unique setting to hold weddings all year through.

The House

Our stunning Georgian country house offers a wealth of beautiful space to accommodate your dream wedding.

Inside Muberry House

On the first floor of the house is our exquisite, newly renovated Honeymoon Suite which is available for you to enjoy on the night of your wedding. Also on the first floor are changing suites for the wedding parties for the morning of your wedding. Wedding changing facilities are available from 8 am and also our first floor lounge is available from 12 noon.

The Copper Room

The Copper Room – to be launched 2nd February 2025!

The air conditioned Copper Room boasts a stunning vaulted ceiling and statement chandelier.

Seating up to 130 for your wedding breakfast it is perfect for a contemporary while traditional wedding breakfast and evening reception.

We are currently in the process of renovating the old Mulberry Suite and making some stunning changes, however we are still open for viewings where you can see the whole venue, beautifully dressed and also the Mulberry Suite in its evolving state (don’t worry – no hard hats needed!)

Located on the ground floor of the main house, it also has its own private bar and cloakroom.

Décor has been kept neutral, with wooden floors and exposed oak beams ready to be dressed as you wish!

The Marquee

Hidden behind the beautiful Georgian house lies our stunning all season’s marquee.

This large marquee has seating for up to 140 guests for a sit-down meal or 200 informally for an evening reception.

Air conditioned

Fully air conditioned with its own built-in newly renovated bar and private decking area. We also have a lower outside terrace for use on warmer days or simply for some fresh air.

The ivory draped, starlit ceiling with crystal chandeliers creates a magical feel for those special night-time occasions.

The Marquee can be accessed via the main house, making it ideal for winter weddings, or from our woodland gardens during those sunny summer days.

Ceremony Spaces

Our Lakeview Gazebo provides a truly picturesque setting for a dreamy outdoor wedding, available between April to September on days when the weather is fine.

If the British weather decides not to play along, we offer complete flexibility and can arrange for your celebrations to be moved inside under the vaulted ceiling of the Cedar Suite.

Woodland Weddings

New for 2025! We are so excited to launch Woodland Weddings at Mulberry House! With new outdoor rustic ceremony locations within the extensive grounds and space for your wedding tent to be erected by the lake, the charm of this option is undeniable.

The Grounds

The grounds of Mulberry House are an extensive oasis of beauty and tranquillity, providing the ideal setting for wedding photos. From lakes and streams, wildflower meadows, ancient woodland, alpacas and black swans – you can get lost in the moment.

Rustic Tables

If you are looking for something unique, we are now offering long tables to give your wedding a rustic look which can set it apart from the usual banquet style set up.

The Mulberry Suite can seat up to x100 guests, and the Marquee can hold up to x120 guests – please enquire with the Events Team to discuss logistics and to add this to your very special day.

From start to finish they were responsive and flexible, and the whole team were kind, supportive and professional. The house and grounds are absolutely stunning, and all our guests loved their rooms and meals. Our huge thanks go to Claire, Jo and Faisal who made sure our day went perfectly, they were so on it that we even ran ahead of schedule! We will definitely be back to visit and would recommend Mulberry House to any couple looking for the perfect venue.

						Beautiful venue with a fantastic team We can’t recommend Mulberry House enough as a wedding venue. From start to finish they were responsive and flexible, and the whole team were kind, supportive and professional. 							My wife and I got married at Mulberry House on 27 October 2024 and it was the most perfect day made even more special by the excellent staff at Mulberry House. Every single staff member was so lovely and accommodating - we truly felt at ease knowing that everything was in hand and the day ran so smoothly. Special thanks to Claire and Jo - the dream team! They helped set everything up and it looked perfect and was my vision come to life, and they were truly there for not only us as a couple but our family too - nothing was too much to ask. They were looking out for us on the day making sure we felt okay and that we were where we needed to be. And huge thanks to Chloe who was our point of contact leading up to the day and talked us through everything, answered every question and eased our worries. The day was such a whirlwind and I was wishing it would never end! The staff thought of everything to make our day special - even going as far as putting wedding cake, card box and prosecco in our room for when we got back in the evening. Beautiful honeymoon suite, and separate getting ready room too with an amazing breakfast spread. ||As a lesbian couple we had struggled elsewhere to find a venue to accommodate 2 brides - but Mulberry had the facilities to make us both feel special and have our own spaces to get ready that weren't too gendered or typical 'bride' and 'groom' spaces. We felt completely accepted and welcomed by everyone at Mulberry House. ||I could go on and on but in short if I could rate more than 5 stars I would - the venue is absolutely gorgeous and the service is top quality. It felt like one big family who welcomed us with open arms. Thank you for making our day perfect!
