Mulberry House is a family-owned and operated wedding venue located in High Ongar, England.

This Essex estate is nestled on 22 acres of rolling fields, wishing wells, and lakes that create a breath-taking backdrop. The historic house has been subtly converted into a boutique hotel while retaining its original charm and details. Featuring stunning Georgian architecture mixed with 21st-century additions, this venue is a luxurious and unique setting to hold weddings all year through.

Our stunning Georgian country house offers a wealth of beautiful space to accommodate your dream wedding.

Inside Muberry House

On the first floor of the house is our exquisite, newly renovated Honeymoon Suite which is available for you to enjoy on the night of your wedding. Also on the first floor are changing suites for the wedding parties for the morning of your wedding. Wedding changing facilities are available from 8 am and also our first floor lounge is available from 12 noon.

The Copper Room

The recently renovated Copper Room features a breathtaking vaulted ceiling and eye-catching chandeliers.

With seating for up to 130 guests, it provides an ideal setting for both a modern yet timeless wedding breakfast and evening reception.

Located on the ground floor of the main house, it includes its own copper topped private bar and cloakroom.

The décor is elegantly neutral, showcasing exposed brick, wooden floors, and beautiful oak beams, all offering a versatile space ready to be personalised for your special day!

The Marquee

Hidden behind the beautiful Georgian house lies our stunning all season’s marquee.

This large marquee has seating for up to 140 guests for a sit-down meal or 200 informally for an evening reception.

Air conditioned

Fully air conditioned with its own built-in newly renovated bar and private decking area. We also have a lower outside terrace for use on warmer days or simply for some fresh air.

The ivory draped, starlit ceiling with crystal chandeliers creates a magical feel for those special night-time occasions.

The Marquee can be accessed via the main house, making it ideal for winter weddings, or from our woodland gardens during those sunny summer days.

Ceremony Spaces

Our Lakeview Gazebo provides a truly picturesque setting for a dreamy outdoor wedding, available between April to September on days when the weather is fine.

If the British weather decides not to play along, we offer complete flexibility and can arrange for your celebrations to be moved inside under the vaulted ceiling of the Oak Room.

Woodland Weddings

New for 2025! We are so excited to launch Woodland Weddings at Mulberry House! With new outdoor rustic ceremony locations within the extensive grounds and space for your wedding tent to be erected by the lake, the charm of this option is undeniable.

The Grounds

The grounds of Mulberry House are an extensive oasis of beauty and tranquillity, providing the ideal setting for wedding photos. From lakes and streams, wildflower meadows, ancient woodland, alpacas and black swans – you can get lost in the moment.

Rustic Tables

If you are looking for something unique, we are now offering long tables to give your wedding a rustic look which can set it apart from the usual banquet style set up.

The Mulberry Suite can seat up to x100 guests, and the Marquee can hold up to x120 guests – please enquire with the Events Team to discuss logistics and to add this to your very special day.

We were served by Alison who really made our night on both occasions and Claire the events manger is wonderful. 						Attended a Xmas celebration night and stayed at the venue. Really friendly and welcoming staff. Great evening. Fabulous food. Entertainment was great. The room was lovely and clean, decorated to a high standard with a really comfortable bed
					
							On Friday 18th 6 people from 3food4U Charity were representing our Charity at Mulberry House Masked Ball. |We were very pleasantly suprised to see where we were dining in a beautifully decorated room. The silk drapes at the ceiling had a lovely golden decoration along it. There were fantastic Christmas decorations everywhere, very tastefully executed. |Our table had some masks to wear if you didn’t wear your own ones, plus a lovely very tall vase with white flowers displayed in there. |The food was very tasty and all homemade by the Chefs in Mulberry House kitchens. |The waiting staff were most attentive and unobtrusive. |A really good DJ played music to suit the age group of the customers and l really enjoyed looking at how lovely the ladies looked in their finery. |The men looked handsome in their evening wear. |Altogether a most enjoyable evening was had by our table and by the other guests l am sure.

The silk drapes at the ceiling had a lovely golden decoration along it. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and she made us feel like we were her top priority from start to finish.||On the day itself, we were first greeted by Kim, who was so lovely and set the perfect tone for the morning. From helping us settle into the bridal room to getting me down the aisle, nothing was ever too much trouble. And Claire — she was truly outstanding. She went above and beyond in every possible way, keeping everything running smoothly, supporting us both throughout the day, and doing it all with such grace and calm. She made sure every little detail was perfect, kept the groomsmen in line, and made everyone feel cared for and relaxed. Her warmth, professionalism, and genuine kindness made all the difference — we honestly couldn’t imagine our wedding without her.||The grounds and building of Mulberry House are breathtaking, and we’ll cherish our wedding photos forever knowing we chose the perfect venue. I was so anxious in the build up and was thinking of all the things I would need to do, but you guys handled everything and knew exactly what to do. The communication and help during the entire day was great, I didn't have to worry about a thing and you all made us feel so welcome and calm. Even the venue and grounds itself made us all feel calm and the guests all said the same. 

The meal was amazing. We had everyone coming up to us complimenting the food and telling us we picked our menu well. Even the breakfast for my bridal party and the morning after the wedding was so good that we were all going back for more

Have to give a shout out to the bar staff for putting up with us all night and for their dancing behind the bar. It made me so happy to see you were enjoying yourselves aswell

So thank you so much to the entire Mulberry house team. We can't thank you enough for everything you have done for us

If you are thinking about booking a wedding venue, especially in Essex, do not rule out Mulberry House. The staff are amazing, the grounds and venue speak for themselves and the value for money, especially in this current financial times, just cannot be beat. You will not regret it.
