Mulberry House is a family-owned and operated wedding venue located in High Ongar, England.
This Essex estate is nestled on 22 acres of rolling fields, wishing wells, and lakes that create a breath-taking backdrop. The historic house has been subtly converted into a boutique hotel while retaining its original charm and details. Featuring stunning Georgian architecture mixed with 21st-century additions, this venue is a luxurious and unique setting to hold weddings all year through.

Inside Muberry House
On the first floor of the house is our exquisite, newly renovated Honeymoon Suite which is available for you to enjoy on the night of your wedding. Also on the first floor are changing suites for the wedding parties for the morning of your wedding. Wedding changing facilities are available from 8 am and also our first floor lounge is available from 12 noon.
The Alderney Room
Step into calm, light-filled luxury in our newly renovated Alderney Changing Suite – a beautifully designed sanctuary where your wedding morning begins. With elegant neutral tones, soft natural light, plush seating and dedicated styling stations, it’s the perfect blend of comfort and sophistication. Relax, sip champagne, and prepare for your walk down the aisle in a space created for unforgettable moments.
The Copper Room
The recently renovated Copper Room features a breathtaking vaulted ceiling and eye-catching chandeliers.
With seating for up to 130 guests, it provides an ideal setting for both a modern yet timeless wedding breakfast and evening reception.
Located on the ground floor of the main house, it includes its own copper topped private bar and cloakroom.
The décor is elegantly neutral, showcasing exposed brick, wooden floors, and beautiful oak beams, all offering a versatile space ready to be personalised for your special day!
The Marquee
Hidden behind the beautiful Georgian house lies our stunning all season’s marquee.
This large marquee has seating for up to 140 guests for a sit-down meal or 200 informally for an evening reception.
Air conditioned
Fully air conditioned with its own built-in newly renovated bar and private decking area. We also have a lower outside terrace for use on warmer days or simply for some fresh air.
The ivory draped, starlit ceiling with crystal chandeliers creates a magical feel for those special night-time occasions.
The Marquee can be accessed via the main house, making it ideal for winter weddings, or from our woodland gardens during those sunny summer days.
Ceremony Spaces
Our Lakeview Gazebo provides a truly picturesque setting for a dreamy outdoor wedding, available between April to September on days when the weather is fine.
If the British weather decides not to play along, we offer complete flexibility and can arrange for your celebrations to be moved inside under the vaulted ceiling of the Oak Room.

New for 2025! We are so excited to launch Woodland Weddings at Mulberry House! With new outdoor rustic ceremony locations within the extensive grounds and space for your wedding tent to be erected by the lake, the charm of this option is undeniable.

The grounds of Mulberry House are an extensive oasis of beauty and tranquillity, providing the ideal setting for wedding photos. From lakes and streams, wildflower meadows, ancient woodland, alpacas and black swans – you can get lost in the moment.
Rustic Tables
If you are looking for something unique, we are now offering long tables to give your wedding a rustic look which can set it apart from the usual banquet style set up.
The Mulberry Suite can seat up to x100 guests, and the Marquee can hold up to x120 guests – please enquire with the Events Team to discuss logistics and to add this to your very special day.

What an amazing venue for our daughter and new son-in-laws wedding! From day one when we came to view the venue right up to tidying up our last remaining wedding bits the day after the wedding, everyone was so kind and helpful, attentive and professional throughout the whole process.The venue is absolutely stunning. The way the wedding flowed from outside gazebo for the ceremony to the copper room for the wedding breakfast, then onto the outside patio for drinks and canapés then into the marquee for the evening was seamless.You can choose the most amazing venue which takes your breath away as soon as you drive up the gravel path, but it’s the people that are working their socks off behind the scenes inside that make this place run like clockwork.The food was amazing. Everyone said they had never tasted food so good at a wedding (that was still hot when it came out too!!)We had a couple of guests with allergies and dietary requirements and nothing was too much trouble for the chef to accommodate this.We chose suppliers that have worked at this venue countless times. The rapport they have with each other and the praise and respect they have for Mulberry House filled us with such confidence that we knew the day was going to run like clockwork.Some of us stayed overnight. This was one of the things that drew us to Mulberry House as a few guests had travelled some distance and we wanted them to be in accommodation on site. It worked perfectly.The rooms were beautiful and breakfast the following morning was superb (again with the allergies and dietary requirements taken into account).It was the most perfect day at the most perfect venue.

Thanks to Claire for organising everything so quickly and helping to save the evening. They even rearranged our cake cutting to fit around the changes without making us feel stressed.Throughout the entire day they continually checked in on us, made sure we had drinks, brought us canapés, and genuinely looked after us. Their kindness, empathy and professionalism never wavered, even when the schedule didn’t go to plan. We honestly felt so cared for, and that’s something we’ll never forget.A special mention as well to Aurora Pearl, who came to the rescue with our dance floor and light-up letters at such short notice. If you’re getting married here and need a reliable supplier, we couldn’t recommend them enough! The planning process was made easy with their portal and great communication, and as soon as we stepped into the venue on the morning of the wedding we were made to feel extra special and cared for. The food was also exceptional with lots of choice. All our guests commented on how great the venue, staff and food was. The whole process was smooth, plenty of support along the way, and a really nice collection of staff in every department. The grounds are truly spectacular, and the grounds staff are fantastic at what they do. An extra large thank you has to be given to Claire though, she was our wedding coordinator for the day and she is a diamond, possibly the nicest person I have ever met. Our wedding from the beginning right until breakfast the day after, would not have been possible without all the help we had - Our venue viewing with Jo, meetings with Chloe, emails with Nicola and Chloe with any questions we had (they answered every single query we had, big or small), Food tasting, open days to show our family, a phone call with Olivia, the drop off the day before, the on the day team, Claire, JoJo, the lady on reception and the bar staff and the team who were there for breakfast the next morning.We chose the traditional British BBQ for our wedding breakfast and the pizza buffet for our evening food - The food was amazing, we’ve even had our guests tell us how much they enjoyed the food.All the rooms are lovely (Especially the bridal suite), the beds were so comfortable, I didn’t want to get out of it the next morning!Claire you are amazing at what you do and I could not have got through the day without you, Liam and I are so grateful for you 🤍 JoJo, thank you so much for your help the morning of the wedding and making sure that my dress was laid perfectly before walking down the aisle, I am so grateful ☺️We want to say a HUGE thank you to Mulberry House for hosting our beautiful day, everything was perfect and I wish we could do the whole day again! 🤍

We celebrated our daughters wedding here on Saturday 9 May 2026
I really cannot recommend this venue enough. The grounds and rooms are beautiful and immaculate. We looked at many venues and this was by far the most beautiful and well maintained. We were blessed with beautiful weather so the outdoor ceremony was magical.
The food was outstanding so thank you Chef and your wonderful team. The marquee was perfect for the evening and we all danced the night away
It had been a very stressful few months building up to the day but from the moment we walked in and were greeted by Jo Jo I felt calm and relaxed. She is absolutely wonderful, professional, calm and so efficient and organised I immediately knew we could just relax and enjoy our morning getting ready. Thank you Jo Jo you were a massive part in making our day perfect. Big thanks to Sammy who again was wonderful, professional and very organised. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and they all went out of their way to put you at ease and make sure you had a day to remember. I didn’t get everyone’s name but a big shout out to the ladies behind the bar in the evening you were brilliant and we had so many guests tell us how great and funny you were. We celebrated our daughters wedding here on Saturday 9 May 2026
I really cannot recommend this venue enough. The grounds and rooms are beautiful and immaculate. We looked at many venues and this was by far the most beautiful and well maintained. We were blessed with beautiful weather so the outdoor ceremony was magical.
The food was outstanding so thank you Chef and your wonderful team. The marquee was perfect for the evening and we all danced the night away

She is absolutely wonderful, professional, calm and so efficient and organised I immediately knew we could just relax and enjoy our morning getting ready. We loved that we could have a different room for the Wedding Breakfast and the evening reception, especially as the team explained how easy they would make it to move between rooms on the day (which they did!).In the pre- and post-booking stage, everyone was so helpful, responsive, and generous with their time (despite our many questions, changes in potential wedding dates, short timelines and helping us work through any hiccups and last minute changes along the way). The open days and menu tasting were also super helpful to be able to picture your day coming together. On the day, everything ran so smoothly - there were a few different bits to coordinate as we had our ceremony at a church off-site, but it was all absolutely seamless. They are amazing at what they do!The newly refurbished bridal suite was the perfect room to get ready in, the honeymoon suite is beautiful, and we had a few guests stay over who also commented on the lovely rooms. The reception team also helped with some last minute room swaps (sorry again for that!) - no ask was too big and it just helped make everything so easy. Breakfast the following day was also delicious.

We absolutely loved photographing a wedding at Mulberry House.
