Mulberry House is a family-owned and operated wedding venue located in High Ongar, England.

This Essex estate is nestled on 22 acres of rolling fields, wishing wells, and lakes that create a breath-taking backdrop. The historic house has been subtly converted into a boutique hotel while retaining its original charm and details. Featuring stunning Georgian architecture mixed with 21st-century additions, this venue is a luxurious and unique setting to hold weddings all year through.

The House

Our stunning Georgian country house offers a wealth of beautiful space to accommodate your dream wedding.

Inside Muberry House

On the first floor of the house is our exquisite, newly renovated Honeymoon Suite which is available for you to enjoy on the night of your wedding. Also on the first floor are changing suites for the wedding parties for the morning of your wedding. Wedding changing facilities are available from 8 am and also our first floor lounge is available from 12 noon.

The Mulberry Suite

The air conditioned Mulberry Suite boasts a stunning vaulted ceiling and statement chandelier.

Seating up to 130 for your wedding breakfast it is perfect for a contemporary while traditional wedding breakfast and evening reception.

Private Bar

Located on the ground floor of the main house, it also has its own private bar and cloakroom.

Décor has been kept neutral, with wooden floors and exposed oak beams ready to be dressed as you wish!

The Marquee

Hidden behind the beautiful Georgian house lies our stunning all season’s marquee.

This large marquee has seating for up to 140 guests for a sit-down meal or 200 informally for an evening reception.

Air conditioned

Fully air conditioned with its own built-in newly renovated bar and private decking area. We also have a lower outside terrace for use on warmer days or simply for some fresh air.

The ivory draped, starlit ceiling with crystal chandeliers creates a magical feel for those special night-time occasions.

The Marquee can be accessed via the main house, making it ideal for winter weddings, or from our woodland gardens during those sunny summer days.

Ceremony Spaces

Our Lakeview Gazebo provides a truly picturesque setting for a dreamy outdoor wedding, available between April to September on days when the weather is fine.

If the British weather decides not to play along, we offer complete flexibility and can arrange for your celebrations to be moved inside under the vaulted ceiling of the Cedar Suite.

Woodland Weddings

New for 2025! We are so excited to launch Woodland Weddings at Mulberry House! With new outdoor rustic ceremony locations within the extensive grounds and space for your wedding tent to be erected by the lake, the charm of this option is undeniable.

The Grounds

The grounds of Mulberry House are an extensive oasis of beauty and tranquillity, providing the ideal setting for wedding photos. From lakes and streams, wildflower meadows, ancient woodland, alpacas and black swans – you can get lost in the moment.

Rustic Tables

If you are looking for something unique, we are now offering long tables to give your wedding a rustic look which can set it apart from the usual banquet style set up.

The Mulberry Suite can seat up to x100 guests, and the Marquee can hold up to x120 guests – please enquire with the Events Team to discuss logistics and to add this to your very special day.

We both said immediately the next day that  we wanted to do it all over again! That’s a testament to everyone involved in making it such an amazing, special day.

All of our guests were amazed by the beautiful grounds and the ease at which the day proceeded, and the general treatment by Mulberry House Team. Our guests continue to say they have never seen a couple enjoy and relax so much on their wedding day and a lot of that was down to the amazing staff. I can’t fault the staff for anything. The food was absolutely amazing and the drinks were always topped up. The day ran so smoothly, and we couldn’t be happier. 							We have just held our daughter’s wedding at Mulberry House. The day was absolutely perfect. Full credit and admiration to the whole events team and other staff involved in the day, their attentiveness to every detail and hard work throughout the day made the whole day go without a hitch. The team are led by Clare who is over every detail throughout the whole day so there was no need to be thinking about logistics at any point as Clare and the team had everything covered. The house and grounds were also just perfect and the food was absolutely amazing. Such a perfect setting. We couldn’t have wished for a better day for our daughter and her new husband and they are both delighted with how it went. Thank you Mulberry House Wedding Events team you made the dream come true. 							Dream Wedding Venue - The Most Perfect Day! Our wedding day in July was absolutely magical and all we could have ever wished for! 

We booked with the lovely Claire back in October 2021, nothing was too much trouble, she went through the entire process and made us feel so welcomed at Mulberry House. 

The planning process was amazing! The menu tasting day was lovely, we got to meet the chef and discuss the food options, all of which tasted incredible. 

We were in contact with Chloe in the months leading up to the wedding, she made sure everything was as we had imagined and gave us advice. 

On our wedding day, every single member of staff was truly a credit to Mulberry House. From the moment I arrived at 8am, they all had a smile on their face, welcoming us in. They even helped tie my shoe up as it had untied just before I went to walk down the aisle. 

The grounds are kept absolutely immaculate, the food is amazing, the bar staff were friendly. 

Our wedding co-ordinators on the day Jo and Claire were absolute diamonds checking in on us regularly and ensuring nothing went wrong. 

We had a slight issue with the DJ we booked not having the correct tracks ready and the dance floor being a different size to what we had booked, Jo and Claire were quick to step in and resolve it for us. 

All of our guests complimented the venue and staff, with a lot saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to and everything ran so smoothly! 

I cannot thank you all enough for making our day so special, we had the best day and cannot wait to revisit in the future!
